This film is ideal for childbirth educators or doulas to show or offer to clients. It balances entertainment and information and shows and reassures women and their families that birth IS normal and not an emergency (as we so often see in popular media and culture). SO well-done and a perfect (and very accessible) medium for educating families.

A easy to watch DVD that explores the impact of our environment and how we view birth. A great DVD for pregnant couples to watch so they can begin to examine their own attitues, care options, and make decisions. I understand that birth is very medcalised in USA, so for me even some of the natural births with midwives was too hands on. What is with the masks and gowns ? Even so it has inspired me to keep birth a normal life event (minus the mask, gowns and theatre caps).

I am a DONA doula, Lamaze Educator, Lactation Consultant and Hypnobirthing doula and I want to order this video. I offer my services free to underserved women in my community, and would love to have this video to show in class and to enjoy myself. It's about time that we all had a counter to the pernicious viewpoint that women see on TV. Finally, an alternative voice!

I laughed, I cried, I learned, while watching Laboring under an Illusion. It is not only entertaining and sometimes funny, it is also educating and shows how wrongly the media have portrayed the most important event in our life.
An absolute must see!
